At the start of 2025 Barton Cleethorpes CRP began an exciting new Railway 200 project, “Art along the Line” which incorporates the commissioning of local artists to produce Art Installations at stations, an Art Competition and a Photography Competition. On World Art Day, 15 April, we unveiled our first hand-painted mural, commissioned with funding from Community Rail Network, in the ticket office at Cleethorpes station. “Our Railway: 200 Years of the Modern Railway” by local artist, Nikita Spires, is an abundance of colour and reflects how Cleethorpes station has developed over time.
At the unveiling, the chair of BCCRP, Carl Thomas, welcomed everyone and said “Over the next twelve months Barton Cleethorpes Community Rail Partnership will be unveiling other pieces of art as part of our contribution to celebrating 200 years of the railway. So here’s to the past that built us, the present that connects us, and the future still to come.”
